CBD Chocolate: All You Need to Know about CBD Chocolate Bars
When it comes to CBD, there are many different options out there and it can get confusing to weed through them all.
While not the most common, CBD chocolate not only makes a great snack, you’ll get your dose of CBD too!
If you’re looking for a discreet, easy, and enjoyable way to eat your medicine, CBD chocolate may be the option for you. We’re breaking down everything you need to know about CBD chocolate so you can decide if it meets your needs and preferences.
What does CBD Chocolate Do?
CBD products is well known for its therapeutic effects and is used for treating a variety of issues.
Some of the most common health benefits of CBD include overall reduced stress and anxiety levels, improvement of PTSD, pain relief, depression, schizophrenia, reduction of seizures for epileptics, and use as an anti-inflammatory.
Combined with the sugar in chocolate, CBD can be a powerful treatment for many health-related issues.
CBD works similarly to serotonin, which controls our mood and level of happiness. CBD attaches to the CB1 and CB2 receptors of the endocannabinoid system within our body’s central nervous system.
When CBD chocolate is eaten, the sugar kickstarts the endocannabinoid system, allowing the CBD to be more effective.
CBD Chocolate for Anxiety
If you’re wondering, is CBD chocolate good for anxiety, you’re not alone. Most people suffer from some level of stress and anxiety in their daily lives, but for some people, the anxiety is unbearable.
With the additional stress, uncertainty, and pressure caused by the pandemic, many people have faced debilitating anxiety recently.
CBD can help manage symptoms of intense stress and anxiety with added benefits when combined with chocolate.
As mentioned previously, it’s believed that sugar makes CBD work more effectively, but choosing CBD chocolate over other options is also just a matter of preference.
If you don’t like the taste of CBD or flavored CBD oil, chocolate masks the taste entirely.
Therapeutic CBD chocolate is also discreet, easy to carry on the go, and simple to dose versus a liquid form of CBD.
Instead of counting drops, you can simply snap off a piece of chocolate for an easy anxiety-reducing snack.
Is CBD Chocolate Legal?
Former President Trump passed the 2018 Farm Bill, which made the cultivation of hemp legal at the federal level.
Hemp is a fast-growing crop that has many industrial and commercial uses such as for clothing and textiles, biofuel, paper products, rope, bioplastics, medicine, insulation, and is even eaten as a nutrient-rich food (hemp oil, hemp seeds, hemp milk, etc.).
Like marijuana, hemp plants are also cannabis plants, though by law they must have 0.3% THC or less to be legally categorized as hemp.
Since there is no restriction on CBD potency, nearly all CBD products are derived from legal hemp, making hemp-derived CBD legal to sell and purchase in the U.S.
However, there has been recent confusion since the Food and Drug Administration clearly states that “you can’t add a drug to a food”, though they don’t seem too bothered by the CBD craze.
There are countless cafés around the country that make CBD latte’s and smoothies, restaurants that create full menus around the cannabinoid, and companies that specialize in CBD kombucha, hot sauce, and CBD chocolate.
Dosing: How Much CBD Chocolate Should I Eat?
Unlike CBD oil or tinctures, CBD chocolate is very easy to dose and you won’t need to count drops.
Before purchasing, check how much CBD is in one serving since all brands will offer different strengths per bar or per serving.
CBD potency is typically shown in milligrams for the entire bar, so you’ll have to divide that number by how many pieces there are in the bar.
Most CBD chocolate bars are pre-portioned so it’s easy to snap off the amount you need.
Begin with a 10 mg piece per day for at least five days. It’s best to keep a journal to record your dosage and any effects you may feel each day.
If you don’t notice any difference in your symptoms after five to seven days, increase the dose by 5 mg.
Watch and record your symptoms for another three to five days before continuing to increase the dosage by 5 mg per day. Do not exceed a total of 50 mg per day.
Most people prefer to eat their entire dosage of CBD chocolate in one sitting either in the morning or before bedtime each day.
It’s best to do this at the same time each day, just like you would with other medicine.
